The mission of the Lowell Police Academy is to educate, train, and inspire recruits to return to their respective agencies as law enforcement professionals, with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to reduce the incidence of crime, ensure public safety, and to establish trust and lasting relationships with the members of the community they serve.

Description

The Lowell Police Academy is an MPTC Authorized Academy offering basic police officer recruit training to police departments from cities and towns throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The academy is currently 21 weeks in length and provides instruction to recruits in subjects such as, but not limited to; constitutional law, criminal law, criminal investigations, first responder/CPR, firearms, defensive tactics, and emergency vehicle operations. Since its inception in 1996, the Lowell Police Academy has remained committed to the principles of community policing.
