It’s important for individuals to be aware of their surrounding and to be on the lookout for suspicious activity. Examples of suspicious activity include:
- Expressing interest in committing a crime or implying to commit a crime
- Providing a false name (misrepresentation)
- Collecting weapons
- Recruiting people to participate in criminal activities

Active Shooters
The Lowell Police Department is committed to protecting the citizens of Lowell. The LPD along with several other departments and organizations, such as the Lowell Fire Department, UMass Lowell Police Department, NEMLEC SWAT and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, have participated in trainings focusing on active shooter responses. The Lowell Police Department continues to conduct Active Shooter Awareness Training on a regular basis.
