The Traffic Unit is tasked with pedestrian and motor vehicle safety throughout the City of Lowell as well as investigation of crashes involving serious bodily injury or death. Additionally, Traffic Unit officers are specially training in accident reconstruction and commercial vehicle enforcement. The Traffic Unit also oversees all specialized traffic and pedestrian enforcement.
Fleet Maintenance
The Lowell Police Department’s Fleet Maintenance is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and off all department vehicles.
Signs/Meter
The sign shop staff are responsible for maintaining and making all traffic control signs in the city. They also paint and maintain crosswalks, fire lanes, and city parking spots.
Crossing Guard
The crossing guards are responsible for directing motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
