The LPD currently has three platoons, which are broken down into late-night, day, and early-night shifts, and are overseen by three Shift Captains on a daily basis. Each platoon also has staggered start times.

The Shift Captains oversee all patrol activities, while the Neighborhood Response Unit serves as the primary provider of neighborhood services for the department.

The Neighborhood Response Unit will be the primary liaison to neighborhood and community groups as well as businesses and nonprofits. The unit consists of a Captain, a Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and 8 patrol officers across both day and night shifts: increasing the resources available to the Neighborhood Response Unit Captain as well as the department’s responsiveness to neighborhood concerns.
