LOWELL – The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office has confirmed the ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred today just before 4:00 p.m. at an apartment complex on Pawtucket Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a brief altercation occurred between two men who were familiar with each other from the building. During the altercation both men were in possession of apparent firearms. One of the men suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he later died. The other man remained on scene. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lowell Police.
