LOWELL — Acting Superintendent Barry Golner is pleased to report that the Lowell Police Department has launched a new, user friendly website to help community members stay better connected to their police department, information, and news.

The website — lowellpolice.org — offers an updated design, and every portion of the new site can be translated into well over 100 languages thanks to Google Translate being installed.

A built-in news blog will provide timely information on public safety emergencies, traffic hazards and road closures, with residents able to sign up for email notifications about news blog posts.

Information is also available on Lowell police initiatives and services, as well as forms for the community, and the site contains easily accessible links to the department’s social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

There is also easy to use signup information for initiatives like the Safe Watch Program, which protects disabled and developmentally challenged individuals who are at risk to wander from home, for car seat safety inspections, and a link to sign up for CodeRED alerts.

Initiatives such as Lowell Police Youth Services are also detailed, as is the School Resource Officer program, the K-9 Unit, and other units and divisions.

The site also has a search function that allows users to easily find desired information and resources.

Users are encouraged to sign up to be notified about news announcements and other timely topics. To sign up for notifications, click here

“We hope this website will increase our transparency and allow anyone in our community to learn more about the Lowell Police Department and the services we provide,” said Acting Superintendent Golner. “I also encourage everyone to sign up to receive notifications regarding public safety emergencies, traffic hazards and road closures.”

The new website was designed by John Guilfoil Public Relations.
