WHEN:

Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

WHERE:

JFK Plaza, 50 Arcand Drive, Lowell, MA

WHAT:

Forming positive relationships with community members, especially youth, is a high priority for the Lowell Police Department as it seeks to build trust with the public. Youth Outreach Day is a fun-filled day of games and activities meant to help police and community members connect.

Youth Outreach Day 2024 will feature games, food, and refreshments, a video game van, a chance to challenge Lowell Police officers at corn hole, as well as opportunities to see and touch police equipment from the Lowell Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, National Park Service Police, the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office and more. Brian O’Keefe, a community outreach specialist with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s New England Office, will also be on hand.

Grant funds from the Shannon Community Safety Initiative, provided by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Office of Grants and Research will be used to support the event.

Additionally, the Lowell Police Superior and Patrol Officer’s Unions will provide raffle baskets.

“I want to invite the entire community to join us as we celebrate Youth Outreach Day once again,” said Superintendent Hudon. “Building positive relationships with the community is a major goal of the department, and we’re looking forward to this fun-filled day of getting to know residents and youth.”
