School Resource Officers work in Lowell Public Schools to ensure the safety of students. SRO staff has expanded from previous years and is now comprised of 1 supervisor and 7 officers that work in schools across the City of Lowell.
In 2021, Officer Paul Robbins and K-9 Mack, were added to the program, and an additional two officers were added in 2022. In 2023, an additional officer was added to the staff bringing the current roster of School Resource Officers to a supervisor — Sgt. Joe Kelly — and seven sworn officers. Those officers include Officer Robbins, Officer Mindy Dower, Officer Kyle Van, Officer Dominic Lessieur, Officer Tim Sullivan, Officer Jose Santiago and Officer Erica Torres.
Officers Lessieur, Torres and Sullivan are assigned to work shifts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. —hours that allow the officers to assist with after-school programming as well.
Sgt. Joe Kelly
Outside of work Sgt. Kelly coaches youth sports including hockey, baseball and softball. He has a dog named Ghost and his favorite snack is Cheez-Its.
Officer Dominic Lessieur
Outside of work Officer Lessieur likes to spend time with his kids. Officer Lessieur has two bearded dragons and a cat.
Officer Mindy Dower
Outside of work Officer Dower likes to go bowling and play video games. Her favorite snack is sunflower seeds.
Officer Paul Robbins
Officer Robbins is a K-9 handler for K-9 Mack. Outside of work he enjoys riding his motorcycle and taking care of his dogs.
Officer Kyle Van
Outside of work Officer Van enjoys playing golf and basketball. His favorite color is red and his favorite snack is Oreos.
Officer Jose Santiago
Officer Santiago’s favorite snack is Hot Fries. Outside of work Officer Santiago coaches basketball.
Officer Tim Sullivan
Outside of work Officer Sullivan coaches Lowell travel basketball and baseball. His favorite color his blue.
Officer Erica Torres
Outside of work Officer Torres likes to workout and spend time with her four pets. Her favorite snack is cookies.
